They're called BJDs - Ball-Jointed Dolls. They are made of resin and come in varied sizes, from around 4 cm in size to up to 90cm tall. They're customizable, you can change their face-ups (paint their faces), change wigs and eyes, redress them or modify the sculpt. The possibilities are endless! But the hobby is not really cheap. The dolls cost anywhere between $100 and $1.000,- or more depending on rarity and/or quality and size.
Give www.denofangels.com a try if you're interested, a link to a forum which can answer all your questions. Ot take a look at the bjd photos and their creators here on dA...some of the photos are really breathtaking!
Thanks again!
Very unique hobby i must say! Wish i was that interesting:']
They'll be cheaper over here, but still quite dear:')
Thanks for the link, i shall have a look!
Thankyouuu.
I believe a good photo should do just that - set off your skull-theatre and get some movie running.
There WAS no story behind this shot. I was just clearing things away after the "symmetry" take, turned around...and Mir had this funny expression. The angle was just perfect, so I dragged the camera back out and gave it one shot.
...and what you see in it is pretty much what it suggests to me.
So, again....thanks for the compliment.
